Although the municipalities organize their services in different ways, all health centers have a common social mission. They are to help ensure that children get a good start in life, that parents experience support in a new phase of life, and that challenges are identified early.
On this page you will find several municipalities and health centers that together show the breadth of preventive health work in Norway. Each municipality has its own local solutions, but the goal is the same: to create good growing conditions for children and young people.
Why have I created this overview?
When I started working on Invisible Capital, I wanted to highlight the capital that is rarely included in the accounts, but which means the most to our society – people.
Health centers are perhaps one of the best examples of this invisible capital. Every single day, midwives, public health nurses and other health personnel meet pregnant women, infants, children, adolescents and parents with knowledge, care and prevention. They contribute to safety, health and quality of life long before challenges develop into larger problems.
This overview is therefore far more than a collection of addresses. It highlights the scope of a national social mission that is carried out every day in small and large municipalities throughout Norway. When we see all the health centers together, it becomes clear how extensive this work actually is – and how important it is for individuals, families and society as a whole.
Good public health is not created only in hospitals or doctor's offices. It is built through thousands of small encounters between people – in conversations with parents, during health examinations, vaccinations, advice and guidance. It is these everyday efforts that create values that we can rarely measure in kroner, but which have enormous significance for quality of life, security and sustainable local communities.

Northland
Nordland is one of Norway's most elongated and geographically diverse counties, with islands, fjords, mountains, coastal communities and great distances. From Helgeland in the south to Lofoten, Vesterålen and Ofoten in the north, families encounter health centers that follow pregnant women, children, adolescents and parents through some of the most important years of life.
Health stations are an important part of preventive health services in municipalities. Here, residents meet midwives, public health nurses and other professionals who work with prenatal care, health examinations, vaccinations, parental support and early intervention.

Why we recommend the book
This is one of the books that has had the greatest impact on my own work with digital services. Over the years – from SAS and the Norwegian Opera & Ballet to working on Bærum Municipality’s website – the principles in this book have been an important reminder that technology is never an end in itself. The goal is to make everyday life easier for the people who use the services. Despite the fact that the book was published many years ago, the message is just as relevant today.

This book was an important part of my own learning journey in digital marketing and e-commerce. It helped build my understanding of how technology, customer experiences and business strategy are interconnected – an insight that later became very important in my work with SAS, the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, Bærum Municipality and eventually the project The Invisible Capital. Many of the ideas about customer value, digitalization and innovation presented on the website have their roots in the knowledge this book conveys.

Why we recommend the book
This book has had a major impact on how I view innovation, digitalization, and change management. It provided a new perspective on why established businesses are challenged by new players, and why the ability to think differently is crucial in a world characterized by continuous technological development. Many of the reflections in The Invisible Capital on innovation, digital transformation, and value creation are based on the insights Clayton Christensen conveys in this classic.
